Boxing is probably one of the most basic self defence systems out there and is a skill everyone should know. It is a combat sport and a highly effective way for protecting yourself in the real world. Boxing is said to originate from Egypt and Sumer in the 3rd or 2nd millennia BC. This possibly makes boxing one of the earliest martial art system in the world with official rules of boxing being dated back to the Ancient Greeks. Despite the whole Mixed Martial Arts craze today, boxing is still one of the most popular combat sports in the world today. Some of the legendary boxers of our time include Muhammad Ali to George Foreman and even Mike Tyson. To the untrained eye, boxing may seem like simplistic system that be simple to master…since it is just punching. On the contrary, boxing is actually a highly technical self defence system that focuses on strategy, foot work, blocks, evasion, creating distance and even various punching techniques. If you want a safe environment for your kids to learn boxing, come and check out the boxing classes at Lil’ Ninjas Dojo.
