Eric Khoo

Mr. Eric Khoo started off his career as an IT professional, but we can tell you one thing....this is one IT person you don't want to mess with. His skills and knowledge in martial arts makes him a well rounded martial artist. Born and raised in Johor, Eric moved to KL to start his career in IT. Although IT was initially his profession, Eric began learning martial arts in 1985 and has been very involved in it since then. He is a firm believer that martial arts is a way for self improvement and discipline and it affects every aspect of our life, work and relationships.

The first martial arts he learnt was Tae Kwon Do in 1985 under Grand Master Yeow Cheng Watt and currently Eric is a 5th Dan Black Belt in ITF Tae Kwon Do. Although Tae Kwon Do mainly focuses on kicks and punches, Eric's grand master in Tae Kwon Do did introduce elements of grappling and submission. This peeked his interest in learning more about locks and submission and in 2008, he was introduced to Hapkido. Hapkido is also a Korean based martial arts which focuses more on grappling, holds, locks, throws and submitting your opponent which is very different from Tae Kwon Do. In 2013, Eric earned his 2nd Degree in Hapkido from World Kido Federation.

Still having a hunger for more knowledge and to expand his martial arts repertoire, Eric next dived into the art of Jeet Kune Do, which is the martial arts system created by none other than the legendary Bruce Lee himself. He learnt Jeet Kune Do from Sifu Sallem Asli who was directly trained by Dan Inosanto. For those who are unfamiliar with the history of Martial Arts, Dan Inosanto was one of Bruce Lee's first students in Jeet Kune Do and he even contributed significantly to the development of Jeet Kune Do with Bruce Lee. He is one of the last few JKD masters alive who had the privilege to learn from Bruce Lee himself. Eric is a Level One Apprentice Instructor in Jeet Kune Do.

Eric also teaches the Kali which is a Filipino street fighting technique that focuses on weapons and empty hand attacks. Kali was developed out of necessity to defends oneself on the dangerous streets of the Philippines and today it has become one of the fastest growing martial arts because of its effectiveness in a real fight. Kali is also used in many Hollywood movies because of its realism and the most famous being The Bourne series starring Matt Damon.

Eric also has extensive experience in working with children with special needs and uses martial arts as part of his program to help children with special needs. Eric has helped coach children with Autism, Down's Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis and various other developmental delay conditions. He does 1 to 1 sessions for children with special needs and his technique of using martial arts as a base for these children has shown promising results in many.
